IDEAS, THOUGHTS AND THINGS TO INSPIRE US

"A Sunny Day"

by Michele L. Mueller on 07/16/10

I'm always so happy when I complete a piece and I still enjoy looking at it. ;)

Old Windows

by Michele L. Mueller on 07/15/10

Thanks to everyone who has donated their old windows to Panes of Art. I greatly appreciate the support and thoughtfulness.

Those who know a little bit about me know that I love the opportunity to transform some of your family history into a piece of art...or...history that will live on long past you and me...I'm sure. MUAH!

Sun Shine

by Michele L. Mueller on 07/13/10

I put up the canopy outside, by the picnic table, and plan to spend the afternoon painting there underneath the shade...well...in between playing in the sandbox, the swingset, the pool and changing diapers. Come to think of it...I probably won't get much painting done at all this afternoon. (wink)

Next Piece...

by Michele L. Mueller on 07/06/10

I've decided that my next piece will be a narrow, long window with sunflowers and maybe a butterfly.

I started the prep work on the frame this afternoon: scraped both the front and back, sanded both sides, pulled out all the old, dried and cracked glazing,  put in new glazing points, reglazed, and primed one side. However, with this humidity, it's taken forever for the primer to dry. Once it's dried, I'll turn it over and prime the front side, then top coats and wait for THAT to dry. THEN...I can begin to lay some paint down on the glass.

Not everyone realizes all the work that has to go into some of the frames before I can even start my art work on the glass - which of course factors into the prices. To me, it's almost like two pieces of art in one: the art that I get to create on the frame with the finish (and all the work to GET to that finish) then the art on the window pane - good thing I enjoy it ALL! : )

Happy Tuesday evening, everyone. :)

New Additions

by Michele L. Mueller on 07/03/10

So the Marinett County Fair is coming up at the end of August - I really need to kick it in high gear. As soon as this holiday weekend is over, I need to put on my "creative hat" and KEEP it on for awhile!

I recently was able to obtain a few great, small windows so I think I'll try to concentrate on those. The frames need a lot of prep work before I can even start to THINK about laying  paint on them but I think, in the end, they'll be adorable. I'm going to do a crackle finish on them...that much I DO know but what to paint...??  I better stock up on coffee...I'm in for a long, creative "haul"! ;)

Happy July 4th weekend, everyone! Stay safe and have fun! :)

Nice to know...

by Michele L. Mueller on 06/28/10

It's nice to know that just by virtue of my art I keep coming across the nicest people. Thank you to all of you.

I can't see through it...

by Michele L. Mueller on 06/12/10

Because I have no Americana pieces left, I decide to paint another American Flag. Although a simple design this, piece is very unique for me because I never completely cover the glass with paint; there's always clean, clear glass - or part of the window pane - that you can look through.  I really believe that being able to see through the glass is like looking through, or deeper into the painting itself. So, this is my first piece where I've laid paint on the entire window pane - it's shaping up to look like an actual flag in a shadow box or something similar - I've very pleased with the progression of this painting and hope the final product is just as pleasing...if not more. ;)
